Capp Street Portraits
Since 2005 I have worked with the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center (MNRC) in San Francisco, a drop in center on Capp Street where people living and hanging out on the streets can get services and support. Ladies' Night was the result of 3 collaborative portrait sessions where ladies could get their make-up done and have a formal portrait taken. These portraits were exhibited first at a local cafe as a way to raise funds for the program. In 2007, four of the portraits were exhibited at the Mission Community Council's kiosks at the 16th and Mission BART plaza. 'Home is Something I Carry With Me' was inspired by a show of the same name, curated by Adrienne Skye Roberts. This series of portraits and audio interviews with participants in MNRC's community programs explored the meaning of home for each participant.
